More than 50 tips and techniques for drawing characters, animals, and expressions
by Maury Aaseng; Clay Butler; Jim Campbell; Dan D’Addario; Alex Hallat; Joe Oesterle
This is a cute little instruction book for beginners with tons of practice pages and plenty of examples and step-by-step tutorials of several characters.
Covers materials needed, head shapes and expressions, adding color, body features, animals and inanimate objects brought to life.
Shows how to create scenes and gags in one panel or more, and there are caricature examples of a couple of famous people.
My favorite piece of advice is that you’ve got to learn the rules before you can break them.
I received an electronic copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. 2/5 stars.
